Pediatric Movement Disorders Clinic
The UAB Pediatric Neurology Movement Disorders Clinic at Children’s of Alabama consists of Dr. Leon Dure and Dr. Emily Gantz who are specialists with expertise in neurologic conditions that affect movement in children. We provide comprehensive, up to date evaluation, treatment, and care for pediatric patients with movement disorders. There are a variety of movement disorders that can cause a child to move too much or too little, including tics, stereotypies, tremor, dystonia, chorea, myoclonus and more. For patients with tics or Tourette syndrome, we have a Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT) program with our occupational therapists to provide first line treatment for tics. For patients with complex movement disorders, we offer a multidisciplinary clinic with Pediatric Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation along with Children’s of Alabama physical therapists. For patients with refractory movement disorders, we even have a Deep Brain Stimulation Program where we collaborate with our pediatric neurosurgery colleagues at Children’s of Alabama to provide innovative treatment.
