Children's of Alabama's Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) is designated Level 4 by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers, which is the highest level for units specializing in a continuum of care for patients. Our Epilepsy Monitoring Unit is the only pediatric EMU in the state that is accredited through the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic Technologists (ABRET) and was the first accredited pediatric EMU in the United States. Our unit is staffed 24 hours a day by dedicated EEG Technologists.
