Pediatric Complex Spine Surgery
UAB Pediatric Neurosurgery cares for all children at COA with spinal injuries, tumors, and congenital anomalies, providing non-operative management as well as surgical stabilization and fusion for craniocervical, cervical, thoracic and lumbar pathology. Our faculty have expertise in traditional open anterior and posterior approaches, freehand and O-arm/STEALTH guided screw placement, minimally invasive discectomy, and endoscopic transnasal decompression. In addition, we enjoy a close relationship with UAB Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery, collaborating on deformity correction cases that require pedicle subtraction osteotomy, vertebral column resection, extension to the cervical spine, spinal cord detethering or neural element decompression
