Mayfair Doctors
Dr. Habeeb earned her undergraduate degree from Birmingham-Southern College, her medical degree from the University of Alabama, School of Medicine and completed her residency at the University of Arizona. She is a member of the Jefferson County Medical Association and the Medical Association of the State of Alabama. She is board certified and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She has received several Pediatrics Review in Education Awards. Dr. Habeeb is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Birmingham and is an active member at Southminster Presbyterian Church. She is married to Rick Reed and they have a combined 7 children and 7 grandchildren. |

Dr. Gilbert, a native of Huntsville, earned her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. She completed her pediatric residency and chief residency at UNC Hospitals. She was awarded the McMillian Pediatric Intern Award in 1997 and the Denny Pediatric Resident Award and Resident of the Year Award at Wake Medical Center in 1999. She was an associate professor in Pediatrics at UNC until 2002. In 2001 she also started working in a private pediatric practice in Raleigh, NC. She moved to Birmingham and joined Mayfair Medical Group in 2004. Dr. Gilbert is board certified and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Jefferson County Medical Society. She is a member of the UAB Faculty Women's Club that helps provide scholarships to women attending UAB. She enjoys participating in overseas and local mission work and singing. She is married to Dr. Shawn "Skip" Gilbert; a pediatric orthopedist at Children's Hospital and has two children. |

Dr. Peters grew up in a military family and moved frequently until she settled in the Birmingham area. She received her Bachelor of Science from Birmingham-Southern College and her Medical Degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. She completed her internship and residency at Children's Hospital of Alabama. Dr. Peters is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Jefferson County Medical Society. She joined Mayfair Medical Group in 2007 after practicing at another Children's Health System clinic. Dr. Peters is married to Matthew Peters and they have three children. She enjoys spending time with her family, participating in activities with her church, supporting the Birmingham Boys Choir, and her involvement in P.E.O. (an international women's philanthropic educational organization). |

Dr. Russell grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee and received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of the South. She received her medical degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in North Carolina and completed her residency at Cincinnati Children's Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. She remained in Ohio in private practice for four years before moving to Birmingham in 2007. She was in private practice in Alabaster, Alabama until January 2013, when she joined Mayfair Medical Group. Dr. Russell has been a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics since 2003. She is married to Stephen Russell, a Birmingham native and Internal Medicine/Pediatric physician with UAB. She stays active with her four children, involvement at Mountain Brook Community Church, reading and working out. |

Dr. Fettig graduated from The University of Alabama where she earned her bachelor of science degree in Microbiology and her bachelor of arts degree in Spanish. She earned her medical degree from The University of Alabama School of Medicine in 2010 and completed her internship and residency at The University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2013. She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Her professional interests include injury prevention and childhood obesity, and her personal interests include travel, music, speaking Spanish, and enjoying quality time with her family and friends. She is married to Dr. David Fettig in Internal Medicine-Gastroenterology and has two daughters, Savannah and Lydia. |

Dr. Mizerany grew up in Jackson, Alabama. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Spanish from The University of Alabama and her medical degree from The University of South Alabama College of Medicine, where she was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. She completed her pediatric residency at Vanderbilt University and at the University of Texas at Houston. She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She practiced at Midtown Pediatrics in downtown Birmingham for over 2 years before coming to Mayfair Medical Group in 2015. She lives in Vestavia Hills with her husband, Pat, and their two children. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and teaching pre-K Sunday school. |

Jamie L. Powell, MD, MPH, FAAP Dr. Powell earned her bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Spanish from Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She also holds a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in Maternal and Child Health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Public Health. Dr. Powell earned her medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine, where she was awarded the Paul A. Palmisano Excellence in Pediatrics Award and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. She completed her pediatric residency training at UAB/Children’s of Alabama, where she was recognized as the Joe LaRussa Intern of the Year. Dr. Powell is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Powell joined Mayfair Medical Group in September 2018. She is passionate about breastfeeding, pediatric nutrition, adolescent development, and promoting healthy lifestyles. She is pursuing advanced breastfeeding training and lactation certification. Dr. Powell is married to Dr. T. Clark Powell, a Birmingham native and OB/GYN, who is completing a fellowship in Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery at UAB. They have two children and live in Homewood. Dr. Powell enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, running, hiking, and traveling. |

Dr. Owens grew up in Huntsville, Alabama and completed his Bachelor of Science at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee. He earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee and moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where he completed his pediatric training at UAB and Children’s of Alabama. Dr. Owens joined Mayfair in September 2021. He thoroughly enjoys parent education as well as the use of technology in health care systems. In his spare time, he enjoys wood working, sports, board games, cooking, and spending time with his wife, Aubrey, their two children, Landon and Harper, and their dogs. |
