Why Give?
Since 1911, Children’s of Alabama has been a place of healing and hope for Alabama’s most critically ill children. From our humble beginnings of a 10-bedroom house, Children’s has grown into a 332-bed hospital over the past 109 years. In an average year Children’s has more than 680,000 patient visits to our clinics and more than 15,000 patient admissions.
Children’s of Alabama is the only medical center in Alabama dedicated solely to the care and treatment of children. In addition to world-class research and patient care, Children’s is a private, not-for-profit medical center that serves as the primary site of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) pediatric medicine, surgery, psychiatry, research and residency programs. With the help of the community, we are able to provide many services to make a child and family’s stay more enjoyable during their hardest time.
About the Alabama Children's Hospital Foundation
The Alabama Children’s Hospital Foundation coordinates all charitable support for the mission of Children's of Alabama, a not-for-profit medical center. Philanthropic support from our community helps cover the expenses of vital programs and services that are not reimbursed through insurance. These gifts help Children’s maintain the quality of the healthcare provided to our region’s most ill and critically injured children, and also provide support for pediatric research and education.
