Physical and Occupational Therapy at Lakeshore
The Children’s at Lakeshore PTs and OTs provide a comprehensive evaluation, direct therapy, assistance with selecting and using adaptive equipment, and a better transition for children to engage or participate in sports and other community-based activities. Our goal is to maximize your child’s physical ability to move and play.
Services
Children 4 - 21 years old may benefit from Children’s at Lakeshore PT and OT services with conditions such as:
- Cerebral palsy
- Muscular dystrophy
- Spina Bifida
- Traumatic brain injury
- Spinal cord injury
- Following orthopedic or rhizotomy surgeries
- Post inpatient Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine stay
PT and OT services are designed to support children and their families to help:
- Develop and improve movement skills
- Use adaptive equipment to support participation in recreation and sports
- Learn self-care skills such as bathing, dressing, and feeding
- Develop eye-hand coordination for play and school activities
- Ease care-giving
- Promote health and wellness
- Encourage and support participation in community-based play, exercise, recreation, and sports
All patient referrals are made primarily by the Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine physicians at Children's of Alabama following an inpatient rehabilitation stay or clinic appointment.
