Special Interests
Dr. Sasser is Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Critical Care Medicine, University of Alabama at Birmingham. Special Interests: Clinical interests include caring for critically ill children with congenital and acquired heart disease. Dr. Sasser has a particular interest in improving peri-operative care of neonates and infants with complex congenital heart disease. Research interests include evaluating methods to modulate post-operative fluid overload, including use of peritoneal dialysis and also evaluating the effect of cardiopulmonary bypass on the immune system. Additional interests include medical student and resident education. He is a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
