Assistant Professor
Dr. McCain received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Georgia and her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. She completed her internship and residency at Children's of Alabama. She then stayed at Children's Hospital for a three year fellowship training program in pediatric emergency medicine where she received the Quarterback Club award for excellence in teaching from the graduating residents. After fellowship she became an assistant professor with UAB and continued to work in Children's Emergency Department for two years before working as a general pediatrician at Mayfair Medical Group for 12 years. Dr. McCain is board certified in both General Pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Medicine. She is married to Larry McCain, an English teacher at The Altamont School. Dr. McCain enjoys playing tennis and traveling with her family. Additional Information: Dr. McCain was on faculty at UAB in PEM from 2007-2009 and left for 12 years to practice general pediatrics in the Birmingham community before deciding to return to a faculty position in pediatric emergency medicine at Children's of Alabama September 2021,
