Special Interests

Interests include understanding the inflammatory response that ensues following periods of ischemia-reperfusion injury. Specifically interested in translational studies of medical techniques to ameliorate the inflammatory response in patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Currently working to develop previous basic findings into the interactions of nitric oxide metabolites and their protective effects during ischemia-reperfusion. The primary goal is to utilize our research to develop best practices to modify the inflammatory response of the cardiac surgical patients in order to improve outcomes and patient recovery.
