Dr. Underwood has more than 16 years of experience teaching residents. He was a staff radiologist at Baptist Medical Center-Princeton Hospital for 12 years before coming to UAB in 2006. During this time, he was recognized as outstanding teacher for two years. Dr. Edgar Underwood performed the first Vertebroplasty in the state of Alabama. He enjoys participating in medical missions and humanitarian efforts and recently went to on a Disaster Relief Trip to Haiti after the earthquake occurred. He has been recognized by Birmingham’s Top Doctors for the last two years. His research interests include cryoablation, radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for patients with kidney, lung and bone tumors and assisting neurologists to treat Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Insufficiency in patients with Multiple Sclerosis. Dr. Underwood is also affiliated with the Trinity Medical System.
