About Me
Dr. McCollum grew up in Texas and graduated from Rhodes College with a BS in biochemistry in 1997. In 2002, she received her Medical Doctorate from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. She completed her pediatrics internship and residency at University of Texas Southwestern/Children's Medical Center Dallas in 2005, and was chief resident there from 2005 to 2006. From 2006 to 2010, Dr. McCollum served as a Pediatric AIDS Corps physician in southern Africa (Eswatini) through Baylor College of Medicine, providing HIV care and treatment to mothers and children affected by HIV. In 2010, Dr. McCollum and her family moved to Birmingham, where she practiced at Greenvale Pediatrics Hoover until she relocated to Midtown Pediatrics in 2019. She is board certified in pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is married to Dr. David McCollum, and they have three teenage children. Her special interests include ensuring children with Medicaid have access to a comprehensive medical home as well as behavioral health services and advocacy for foster children. She likes to spend her free time outdoors, with family and volunteering at her church and in her community.
