Pediatric Cardiology Social Workers
Pediatric cardiology social workers understand that an illness and a hospitalization are not always planned and we are here to make your stay at Children's of Alabama as comfortable as possible. Our first priority is to make sure that your most basic needs are met such as food, clothing, and lodging. Next, we will follow you throughout your hospital stay and provide services such as counseling, crisis intervention, discharge planning, and referral to community resources. Finally, we will continue to be available to you on an outpatient basis if you choose to have your follow-up care with one of our cardiologists.
Whether you are here for a routine procedure, planned or unplanned surgery, or heart transplant evaluation, we are here to assist you. We are available to all patients and family members on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.. We can be reached through the Social Services Department at 205-638-9684.
