Our hospital, like others across the country, is anticipating intermittent shortages of IV fluids due to the temporary closure of Baxter International’s North Cove, North Carolina facility. Our pharmacy and supply chain procurement teams are diligently managing these shortages and have implemented a conservation process, allowing our patients to continue to receive uninterrupted treatment thus far. We are working with national groups like the Children’s Hospital Association and the Vizient Pediatric Alliance to manage the shortages, allocations and conservation plans. We will continue to monitor the shortage closely and make decisions in the best interest of all our patients.
