Q: What causes ear infections?
A: Exposure to cigarette smoke, bottle-propping or upper-respiratory infections (i.e., the "common cold").
Q: Is acetaminophen or ibuprofen better for a fever?
A: In most children older than 6 months, ibuprofen will work faster and last longer.
Q: When will my child stop wetting the bed?
A: If your child has not stopped wetting the bed by age 5 or 6, you should consult your pediatrician.
Q: When will my baby get its first tooth?
A: Anywhere between 4-12 months, usually.
Q: How will I know if my baby has asthma?
A: Your pediatrician will hear your child wheezing on multiple occasions.
Q: When can my baby stop drinking formula?
A: Around the first birthday.
Q: My toddler doesn't like milk. Is it essential to her diet?
A: Not necessarily. You may substitute other dairy products (such as cheese, yogurt or calcium-fortified orange juice) in your child's diet. Broccoli is also a good source of calcium.
Q: My child had a fever. When can he return to school/daycare?
A: Your child should be "fever-free" for at least 24 hours before returning and well enough to participate in group activities.
