The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit has a 22 bed capacity. It is a mixed medical-surgical, neonatal, pediatric and adolescent unit with emphasis on cardiopulmonary, neurological and surgical problems; including, respiratory distress, pneumonia, croup, apnea, asthma, near drowning, acute renal failure, child abuse, complex and refractory seizure disorders, meningitis, Guillain-Barre Syndrome, ingestions, diabetes, neurosurgery, trauma, facial reconstructions and scoliosis.
The unit serves as a referral unit for Alabama, eastern Mississippi, western Georgia, south central Tennessee, and the Florida panhandle.
