As an institution Children’s of Alabama and the Department of Pediatrics has a goal of establishing “criteria for use” for all antimicrobials available to patients.  Indication specific orders sets allow for the most appropriate dose to be selected with (WHEN?) the indication or criteria for use is chosen.  The order sets guide prescribers on the appropriate use of antibiotics and assure they are prescribed at the  right dose.
