Teen Driving Education
Safe Kids Alabama and Think First Alabama at Children’s of Alabama provide teen driving education in middle, junior and high schools across the state. These programs can be done in an assembly type session or in classrooms, like Driver’s Education or Health, when in person visitation is allowed. Currently our programs are offered virtually.
The program contains videos, victim impact speaker, interactive activities and presentations. We can individualize the program to meet the school’s needs. The program includes information on speeding, seat belt use, distracted driving and DUI education. Our program includes a very impactful presentation called “To the ED and Beyond” and is presented by our Children’s of Alabama Trauma Coordinator and our Think First Alabama Director. It presents the scenario of what happens to the teen from the time of the crash through their admission to the hospital. It also includes Emergency Medical Services personnel.
We also collaborate with like minded organizations in Alabama to bring an even bigger program that can include AL Dept of Transportation, MADD, ABC Board and Alabama Sports Festival Foundation, with their student ambassadors program.
