About Our Program

The Aerodigestive Program (ADP) at Children's of Alabama serves the complex medical needs of children with airway, respiratory, gastrointestinal and feeding concerns. The program's main purpose is to improve the lives of children with complex medical issues through improved care coordination.

We strive to improve the care experience and provide optimized health outcomes. To develop coordinated care plans with multidisciplinary follow-up, we combine the expertise of pediatric subspecialists and health professionals.

We streamline the medical process, coordinating procedures and clinical evaluation with a collaboratively developed care plan.

As the only pediatric ADP team in Alabama and one of the largest, most experienced teams in the nation, we provide subspecialty therapists who offer a spectrum of services that are necessary in the care coordination of children with complex airway and nutritional symptoms. Following a discussion with our ADP care coordinator, our multidisciplinary team will discuss your child’s treatment to develop the most effective and efficient plan of care for them before your appointment. We may then see your child in a multidisciplinary clinic where, together, we will agree upon what is the best next step in your child’s personalized care. This may include coordinated investigations to understand better what is driving your child’s symptoms, and a joint conversation regarding the next steps and best therapies to improve their health.
